While in Boston a couple weeks ago, I was invited by David’s Bridal to experience their “Meet the Stylist” program and try on my very first wedding dresses! Coincidentally, I was in Boston to help my sister, Lindsey, shop for her own wedding dress (she’s getting married this September), so she and I went together.
I really didn’t know what to expect having never been shopping for bridal gowns before, but I was immediately impressed with what a beautiful, bright space we walked into. We were greeted by our stylist for the morning and she asked me a few questions to get a feel for the type of dresses I might be interested in, then we got to work looking around and choosing a few to try.
BTW what a unique experience it was to try on wedding dresses along with my sister!
Linds and I decided to each find a dress for ourselves and then one for each other. The one Linds chose for me was an a-line with an embellished, strapless, corset top and tulle skirt. Very form-fitting and flattering. The other I tried on was pretty different, as it was all lace with 3/4 sleeves and a more narrow silhouette. Both were so elegant!
I chose a Truly Zac Posen strapless, mermaid silhouette for Lindsey (you can see her wearing it in one of the photos below).
At one point, when we were both in dresses, we put veils on – it was so surreal!
The entire time our David’s Bridal stylist was on hand to clip and adjust the dresses, answer any questions about ordering, and help to accessorize with belts or flower crowns. She made us feel like we had all the time in the world, which was nice because typically bridal boutique appointments are so short you feel like you really have to rush through dresses.
They had a huge array of wedding dresses to choose from, but an entire separate section of the store was dedicated just to bridesmaid dresses, and since I’m Lindsey’s Maid of Honor, we decided to look at some of those too! We especially loved a simple, satin option (the blue dress I’m wearing in these photos), although I think she wants to order it in a nude color. Their bridesmaid dresses come in every color you could possibly want!
I’m so glad we had this delightful experience with David’s Bridal, not only to kick off our weekend of dress shopping, but for the memories my sister and I made during this special time in our lives and will be able to treasure for years to come.
