Goodbye 2016

What a year it has been! I still can’t believe 2016 was the year I got engaged!!! I have a whole wedding planning update for you guys, but in this post I want to focus on looking back at 2016 and looking forward into 2017.

Looking back: 2016 was the year Foray started to make some big moves. We hosted an entire estate with 30 guests at Coachella in April. By October we had closed our first round of funding for $1.2 million. It definitely took blood, sweat and tears but we did it, so please keep an eye out for some exciting news and updates as far as Foray goes this year!

Brody and I got engaged, renovated our kitchen and bathrooms, and celebrated our third anniversary. We also made some lifestyle adjustments to try and focus on spending more time at home in Malibu, living a little bit more of a normal “adult life.”

I completely relaunched and rebranded my personal business, this website, from Western Wild to Hey, Miss Carter! I also produced my first magazine-style holiday guide.

I traveled to my first NY Fashion Week, Colorado, Montana, Hawaii, Indonesia, Miami, Mexico, and Utah. I went dogsledding for the first time, and watched a massive meteor shower cross the desert sky.

My sister got engaged to her boyfriend of 8 years and we went wedding dress shopping for her!

I turned 28 and bleached-and-toned my hair!!!!

I filmed my first (and likely last) workout video (coming this week, LOL).

Looking forward: I’ve never been a big believer in New Years resolutions – I feel like if you want to make a change, there’s no time like the present! However, I did receive a piano for Christmas, so I’m saying that my resolution is to practice every day that I’m home this year. I got a little jump start and have already mastered Hot Cross Buns so off to a good start! Brody’s already asked me to stop playing it actually hahaha!! My goal is to learn to play my new favorite song, “Sebastian & Mia’s Theme,” from the movie La La Land, which will surely take much more than a year, but, gotta set the bar high!

There are a lot of things I’m excited for this coming year! Right off the bat, Brody and I (and Foray) are headed to the Sundance Film Festival in a couple weeks. I always look forward to Coachella, and this year is no exception. My goal this year is to focus less on running around between “Nochella” events and actually spend the majority of the time at the festival, listening to music and relaxing.  I’m also realllyyy looking forward to the new Fyre Festival in the Bahamas this April!!

My sister will get married in September, and I have a whole bachelorette party to plan!

I also want to get back to Europe this year. I used to spend quite a bit more time there, but it’s been three years!! On my list are the UK countryside, Tuscany and Spain.

This year I will continue to keep up with this site and grow it. I’d like to start including video tutorials and Q&As, in addition to partnering with some new brands. What else would you all like to see?? What are your New Years resolutions? Let me know in the comments below!

It seems like everyone is doing a whole lot of complaining about 2016, but when I look back on it, I feel like 2016 was a damn good year for me!

Thank you to all of you who follow my life on here and have always supported me!! I am very grateful, and I look forward to 2017 together! Have fun celebrating tonight and be safe 🙂 Happy New Year!!!!!!
